More about the Barnyard Theatre
The very first Barnyard Theatre was opened in 1996 just outside of Plettenberg Bay on a family-run dairy farm. Founders Louis and Sybel Möller were involved and interested in performing arts for most of their lives. As their family grew, they decided to step back and combine two of their passions – their farm and the spotlight! The name is derived from the stunning, American-styled rustic interior décor of the farm’s original barn theatre.
In 2003 their dream grew into a bigger reality as the family teamed up with South African musician Duck Chowles to begin the Barnyard Theatre Production Company. Today Duck Chowles is still extremely involved in the daily functioning of this company as he directs and produces all its productions.
The Barnyard Talent
Barnyard Theatre focuses on identifying local talent and providing them with a space to earn a living from what they love most. They employ all musicians and performers who partake in their productions and have created over 110 successful shows since their inception. Barnyard Theatre shows have been staged internationally and are sought after in all their locations across South Africa.
